Broken Garage Door Spring Repair

Called on a Sunday for an appointment for a broken spring. Call center said cost should be between 80-200$ which we were fine with. Technician got here and pretty much said the parts we needed were almost impossible to get bc they only supply to builders and they order in bulk and they could fix everything for $1,000.00! Yeah. Was not expecting that. We declined to have them fix it….my husband ended up finding the parts we needed from the manufacturer online that Precision said were nearly impossible for $250.00 and he fixed himself. Complete rip off.

Seemed to get a good deal on a new opener installed. Only opportunity is that the specialist didn't even attempt to troubleshoot or fix the existing opener (which is admittedly 25 years old).

The tech was a 5 very knowledgeable & polite. The cost of the repair was extremely expensive over $600 for springs,cable wire, rollers, etc only for 1 door that was only 3yrs old. Its my fault Precision was the first I called & I didnt have time to call others.My neighbor who needs 2x new doors asked about Precision & I hated to tell them to shop around.

I knew what was wrong with my garage door opener (worn off gear) after investigating myself (and because it happened to my other garage door a year or two ago). However, the customer service agent I spoke to was unable to provide any guidance or clarity on the cost of a potential fix to the specific issue. I was attempting to determine from that price whether it was worth my time and energy or have a technician fix it. So, I took my chances at having the technician come out to take a look (hoping that the service fee would be included in the fix and would be within reason). As soon as the technician got there (literally less than 10 seconds), he confirmed my suspicion and rattled off the fix price (seems like something to relay to the customer service agents for future facilitation). Since this price was well above my intended spending, I decided to take it on myself (knowing that the parts are ~$30 and that the difference in price was worth my time and any unplanned frustration in fixing). After the technician left, he called me back and offered me a much better price much closer to my price range since I was a repeat customer (albeit not as close as I thought was fair based on parts and labor prices). Since it was close, I mulled over it for a few minutes and decided to proceed with having the technician fix it. He proceeded to return and fix it without issue within about 30 minutes. The technician was very friendly, easy going and informative. I appreciated his transparency and willingness to work out a deal with me. Overall, I'm disappointed with the customer service team not being able to give me the information/price up front since it was a common issue (understanding that there would need to be a disclaimer that it would be contingent on the technician confirming my suspicion). I would also expect the technician's first price (and customer service agent's as well) to take my previous business with the company into consideration to give me the best possible deal from the start. This is not directed at the individuals that assisted me as they were doing their job. This is constructive feedback for the company to take into serious consideration for the future for myself and other customers. I believe that the service is slightly over-price to begin with but I'm willing to pay a little extra for a reputable and easy to work with company. However, in return, I expect to not be taken advantage of as a repeat customer. I hope you will take this feedback and put it to good use. Thank you for your service!
