My mom was having major issues with her garage door — loud grinding noises, stopping mid-operation, and becoming unreliable enough that she was honestly scared to use it. Another company came out previously and immediately pushed her toward replacing the entire door, quoting a minimum of $3,500 for what, frankly, would have been a pretty underwhelming aluminum door that wouldn’t have suited her Bellevue home at all. More importantly, I wasn’t convinced the door itself was the issue. The existing door is a beautiful custom solid wood door from 1997 that still looked completely fine to me. The real issue was the aging mechanical system and motor. Our motor was over 20 years old, barely strong enough for the roughly 300 lb wood door, and ALL of the moving components were worn out. The original quote for that was around $5,100, but Jesse worked with me on pricing and negotiated fairly. We ultimately landed around $3,500 for a full mechanical overhaul plus a brand-new motor system. I felt good recommending that path to my mom because it preserved the original door we love while making everything function safely and smoothly again. Now the door works like new — no grinding, no scary noises, no jerking or stopping. The upgraded opener is also a huge improvement: * properly rated for the weight of the door * battery backup (a big deal since their power goes out frequently) * smartphone/app compatibility for remote open/close access Overall, Jesse was honest, patient, knowledgeable, and transparent throughout the entire process. As someone who is very cautious about contractors and pretty good at spotting when I’m being upsold, I genuinely felt like he approached this the right way. He spent a lot of time walking me through the options, answering questions, and helping us make the best long-term decision instead of just pushing the most expensive one. The entire job was completed in about 3 hours, and we are extremely happy with the results. We’ll absolutely recommend Precision Garage Door Service going forward.
