I have done business with Precision door for many years. Starting in San Diego, then Charlotte, and now in Florida. I have always felt "comfortable " with the technicians. NOT TODAY THOUGH. I was told the "brains" of my unit would not receive remote signals. His "solution" was to charge me $931.00, and get a new unit. No attempt was made to see if a reburshed part was available. He has been with the company for only one year, and I felt that he was trying to build the invoice up. So much for Precision door of Florida. Next time I will get another company. Too bad.

All that is as done was to look at the door and find things for me to spend money on. I wanted the door serviced which did not happen. From your drop downs below you did not do any of these. There is no choice for what was done. What I wanted done repair or to service a loud door, which is what is on your TV ad.

It took me couple months to write this review because I wanted to see if they would take some $$ off my bill. The reason why they got 1 star is because it took 4-5 months to get my garage door installed. The salesperson game out early August. In October Percision came out to install it. The reason why is because they forgot about me and our order got lost. I had to call the company asking about what’s going on. Because of that I asked the installer manager that I need to be compensated and said will do. When they came out to install our 2 doors it was missing the window part of the door. When I called they knew it was missing and never bothered me to tell me. I also said that I need to be completely and of course they said okay will do. It took to the middle of December to finally get my windows on my garage door to be installed. So it took 4 months to finally have my door installed but the company never communicated with me and they lied to me about being compensated. Don’t get me wrong the salesperson and installers were super nice and friendly but the service from the company was terrible. That’s why I gave them 1 star. I hope you have a better treatment and experience with them.

Our experience in a nutshell: GOOD: They came out quickly. Jake was very nice. BAD: Existing springs were 25”. They were replaced with 37” springs (costing $125.00 MORE for each). We did not request the longer length. We just needed the broken spring replaced, and opted to have the second one done at the same time. UGLY: Customer service is non-existent. Would not acknowledge they made an error in installing the wrong size springs. Would not work with us to rectify the problem. Extremely disappointed. Obviously not a reputable company. Considering contacting the BBB so PGD will hopefully improve their business practices. And yes, I do NOT expect this review will be made public.

Ordered door in May—-took over two months to arrive….neighbors ordered same door, got two different doors. HOA now wants my door changed to match their two doors…company is not accepting any of their errors. Interesting phone conversations without admitting fault of company…

Response:

Dear Mr Vandewalle, We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback, although we must express our disappointment in your characterization of our services. When a door is ordered we create the order to match exactly what the invoice states is ordered and signed off on by our customers prior to ordering. This is exactly what happened in this case as well, we placed the order exactly as you specified. First off regarding the delivery of your door. When you ordered your door you were told that production on special order doors takes 4-6 weeks. We also gave you an ETA for your door to arrive and it arrived 6 weeks from the date it was ordered. Regarding the mix-up with your neighbors' orders, we regret any confusion and understand the inconvenience caused by the situation. Your neighbors doors however, were ordered two months after yours and they arrived faster as they were not special order doors. They also match each other and were both approved by your HOA in Aug. of 2023. As for your HOA's request to change your door to match your neighbors', we sympathize with your predicament. We are more than willing to work with you to find a satisfactory solution that meets both your needs and your HOA's requirements. However as the fault is not on our end we will not provide this door free of charge. Concerning your perception of our phone conversations, we take your comments seriously. Our team is trained to provide transparent and honest communication which we did, but you were unwilling to acknowledge that you ordered the wrong door. If there were any misunderstandings or lapses in communication they are not on our end, you received and signed the contract approving the door that you ordered.

Yesterday, I encountered an issue with my garage door and identified that the spring needed replacement. Spotting a sticker on my garage door with this company's phone number, I decided to reach out. Upon inquiry about the cost of spring replacement, I was informed it would range between $100 to $400, prompting me to schedule a service for the following day. The service window provided was from 8:30 am to 12 pm. However, the lack of communication led to us having to call twice just to confirm their arrival. At noon, we received a call stating they would arrive in 20 minutes. As a result, my wife wasted approximately four hours waiting with no updates. When the technician finally arrived, he presented us with options ranging from $800.00, significantly higher than the initially quoted range. We expressed our dissatisfaction and disbelief, as we were assured a price between $100 to $400. The technician then offered a lower price of $400, but it still exceeded the original quote. Feeling trapped due to my wife being locked in the garage, we reluctantly agreed to proceed with the repair. However, the poor communication and the attempt to justify the significant price difference left us deeply dissatisfied. We expected transparency and honesty in pricing, not arbitrary changes and inflated costs. Consequently, we will not be returning as customers and cannot in good conscience recommend this service to others.

We called for a repair to a broken spring. The technician said he recommended a new door, while the motor unit still works fine, nothing wrong. Out of inconvenience our tenant, we decided to get a quote for the single door garage, the quote was on the high end, but again, we had a tenant and didn’t want multiple companies to quote, we finally settle for a new door and motor. The installation would take place in two weeks due to scheduling delay, they had the supply. The installation day went okay, however; the garage door didn’t have a handle to match all other doors in our association and the installer said he had to return another day to complete the handle and fix a feature (vacation mode) on the remote unit as it wasn’t working properly. We paid the work order in full on the day of installation. We then schedule for February 1,2024 as a day for them to put on the handle and fix anything else that didn’t work the first time. Precision invoice ADDITIONAL $108 for the handle! This invoice came after a total payment of full parts and labor for like/same garage door style as the HOA. I’ve email and asked to confirm PRIOR to them coming on February 1,2024 that the handle should be included in the total cost paid already. They send a technician out and again, I confirm prior to him doing that work that we already paid in full, which he confirmed and remembered processing payment in full! I’m frustrated with this company because they didn’t keep their word. I’m looking into calling BBB to report this incident.

I would like to start by saying Jeremy was fantastic in his abilities to complete the job. His workmanship is flawless. What I dislike is the price gouging that took place. Now I admit I authorized the work to be done and saw the bottom line before the work started. I was in a bind and needed to get it fixed as soon as possible. However, once I received my invoice I was shocked after I did some comparison pricing. Please see below: 1. Green .225 x 29" - 1-3/4 ID Spring - average to high cost online $191 per spring - Precision cost $483 per spring! 2. Spring Pad Install - this is just a piece of 2x6 board screwed to the wall - Precision cost $150 3. Flanged Ball Bearing - online $7-$30 - Precision Cost $153 4. 16' 10" Galvanized Shaft online ~$50 - Precision cost $255 5. 7 foot (set) Torsion Cable online $20 - Precision cost $255 6. PDS 10' Res Cable Drum - online highest I found was $70 - Precision cost was $201 each 7. Operator Reinforcement Bracket 21" online $21 - Precision cost $263 8. Center plate (no bearing) online $3 - $15 - Precision cost $150 I know companies have markup and need to make money but damn, this is highway robbery! I will not ever call on them again nor recommend them to anyone! You can decide for yourself!

The younger gentleman that showed up at my house was rude. His demeanor and attitude was a total turnoff, even if what he was saying was 100% true. I will be using a different company for this issue, and any other future issues.

Response:

Hi Anna Manning, Thank you for your feedback. We wanted to clarify our technicians have been to your house three times in the past several years. Each time the technician has been to your house it has been at no cost to you. While they are there they provide you with a free estimate and free safety inspection of the repairs you require to get your garage door and garage door operator operational and safe. The parts on your garage door that are broken were installed by another company. So we will not replace the broken parts for no charge as discussed with the technician when he was there. We are glad you agree with what the technician was saying but we are sorry for his presentation. Please remember the parts we sell are higher quality! And when we provide the service to a customer's garage door or garage door operator that is recommended on the estimate there should be no repeat visits for additional work to be completed. We fix garage doors right!

This was a horrible, stressful, time consuming, disillusioning experience. This was a situation where the original problem of a noisy garage door opener was made worse by the work done by this company. I was charged $1315 for work done that I would not have them do, except for the fact that I was assured, it would fix the problem. It did not. I called Precision to look at, and hopefully fix a garage door that was making a loud popping/grinding noise as it was going downward. On 1/11/24 their “Senior Tech” arrived, and while I attempted to physically demonstrate the problem, he was insistent that I don’t. My wife was present and found this as odd as I. This person was very assertive and stated absolutely that that replacement of the spring and pulley system would definitely fix the problem. Stressing his experience and expertise I deferred. He prepared a quote that amounted to $1315 that involved replacing the rollers and spring set up. With his assurance this is the problem and the work would fix it, I gave the go ahead. I had to go to work as he got started and put faith that the experienced Tech would deliver on his assurances. That evening, I talked to my wife to see how it went. She said that she saw a significant gap under the garage door. The next day I saw the sunlight through the gap with snow blown inside. I also noticed that the loud popping/grinding problem was as bad as ever. I called the company to complain and they scheduled a Sunday appointment with the same Tech to address the new problem. When the Tech arrive, he did not seem happy at all. This time I set it up to make him listen to the noise and observe the new gap. He was really annoyed by this and became argumentative. The exchange was tense and seemed like it was getting out of control. With the slamming and arguing I told him he needed to go. I then went to the website to send a complaint. The following day 1/15/2024 Sam (local General Manager) left a message asking me to call. We had a 30 min discussion that ended by him suggesting sending someone to fix the gap, noise, and check for damage. I soon got a call from the Operations Manager, Kevin, from Wisconsin. I noticed Kevin responds to negative reviews on line and seemed concerned. He also wanted to send top guys to address/fix the issues and then, call him back late that week to discuss what remedy I had in mind, or something to that affect. The following day, Tyler, Lead Technician and Sam arrive. I had the door open, to make sure they listened. Tyler immediately said that the motor gears were worn. I finally got in touch with Kevin to make a more than fair proposal. Considering I paid $1315 for a job that was not fixed (I would not have had the wheels or springs done, they were operational), and what would have fixed the problem was a new $220 opener, that they replace the opener, put the seals on the door bottoms and we’ll be good. Kevin agreed to my solution that I have a new opener installed and seals added to the bottom of the doors. On 1/29/2024, 18 days later, Tyler and Sam arrived and installed a motor and seals. Things seemed fine, but after a few hours, it occurred to me that I didn’t get a user manual and warranty paperwork on the opener. I thought I better check closer. As it turned out, the manufacture date on the opener was 4/28/2021, almost 3 years old! This could be a used, reconditioned, returned, loaner, anything but new. These things cost a couple hundred dollars and they have $1315 of my money only to try to sneak in an old opener? I put one more call to Kevin, a very hard guy to reach. Where I was beginning to have faith that there are some business’ that are “Old School” and do right by the customer, Precision has brought me back to Earth. On 1/30 I get a threatening intimidating email saying I'm in bad faith that he is now going to bill me for the opener work. Pursue it if not paid. The $1315 you have isn't enough? This has been one of the worst, most exhausting, stressful home repair experiences I have had in my 27 years of home ownership.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a professional service! In November I had a hung garage door and chose to go with Precision Overhead Door of Kansas City since it is name you can trust. I do not trust them. After reading the reviews it is clear that I am not alone on the amount of up-charging they do. I was given a quote for over $1500 to fix it long term. I was able to get the bare minimum down to about $475. Money was really tight for us and that was all we could afford. Then when they came to do the work, they tacked on another $150 because it was harder than he thought, so I had to borrow money from my kids Christmas fund. Then after he left, I tried to open and close the garage door at which point it fell of track again. I called to have them come out only for them to tell me that I needed 2 new springs for $575. I told them again that I could not afford it and they gave me a discount for $465 to replace the springs. I said that I would save the money to do the repair. Finally at the end of January I had enough money saved to do the repair. When they came out, they said that the price had gone back up to $575 after trying to get my wife to sign a waiver to do it for $800. I called and spoke with Alex, who was nice when he wanted to be nice but overall was very condescending every time, we had an interaction with him. He made us feel stupid and talked down to us. He explained that was a 1-time discount and they would not honor it. I hung up the phone and immediately called the office. I spoke with Bo, the supervisor over the garage door installation, who was so rude to me on the phone. After I didn't get anywhere with him, I asked for his manager, I cannot recall his name, who was the rudest manager I have ever spoken with. He was the director of operations. He told me that every time I Google Precision it costs them $100 and that I am costing them money. He reluctantly gave me the original quoted price of $465 on the condition that I leave a 5-Star Review. The work was completed but I will not let a company bribe me for a dishonest 5-star review. Instead, I will be honest and warn others. I will NEVER use this company again and will spread the word to everyone I know to avoid a company that is not one that I can TRUST.

Technician came out and looked at the garage opener and tried opening and closing and said that opener cannot be fix as it may be out dated. The unit still works its just opening too far up and closing too far down. The technician said I would need to purchase new openers and two options were given which were very very expensive and decided not to move forward. End up paying for the service call. Not a great experience.

My husband and I are very disappointed in our most recent experience with Precision. Our garage door is broken. Broken beyond repair. It is a Precision door that was installed in 2021. Thankfully, our door did not malfunction and fall on either of our vehicles or our children. When we reached out to Precision, we were given an appointment that was later delayed due to the weather in Memphis (snow). However, during that wait time, we were able to get estimates from two other garage door companies. Both companies' technicians noted the difference in the appearance (wear and tear) of the garage door and the spring components. The springs are obviously older than the door-which means we were given a new door and it was attached to the ancient, out of date springs that we already had. On January 22, a technician (John Pugh) came to our residence and inspected the door. We were given the option of paying $200 to have the door removed or PAYING to have a new one installed. He noted that he did not work for Precision in 2021 at the time the garage door was installed, therefore he does not know why new springs were not installed too. After he left, my husband spoke with Ben White, a manager, who gave us the same options. He informed us that during Covid ( 2021, when our door was installed) Precision was short staffed, as well as short on supplies, so the decision was made to install the door without updating the springs. Now, we are suffering from the consequences of that decision-old, outdated springs that could not support a new door. This is unacceptable and we certainly expected a different outcome once we spoke with a technician and a manager. In 2021, we contacted Precision because they were HIGHLY recommended to us, unfortunately we will not be able to pass this recommendation to others. Based on this experience, I would rate them with 0 star.

Response:

I ordered doors on 1/16/24. I received a call that same day saying they had everything needed for my install. The installers came on 1/18/24 to put them up. I was at home the entire day. One of the installers claims they tried getting in touch with me for "2 hours", although nobody ever rang the doorbell. Since they "couldn't reach me", they put the windows were they "thought" they should go. Windows were put in the wrong place. When I said that wasn't going to be acceptable, one of the installers was extremely rude. Randy, the other installer was professional about the situation and said they would correct the problem. The windows also turned out to be the incorrect windows I ordered. So they had two other window inserts and told me the were the 2 I could choose from. What I want is the windows I ordered though. I called at 8am the day after install to inquire about getting the correct window inserts and no one from sales has returned the call. This whole process has been very frustrating.

Over price for what I compared with after. They don’t give you a price to repair till they get to your house. The young man did a good job and was ver professional. But I think they have different prices for different people as I check with someone who used them and saw what they paid. Commission maybe.

I was told the estimate would be a 1/2 off special for $35 but when the guy came out and gave us crazy estimates double of what any other company charges and trying to charge me for things I did not ask to be done he charged me $69.95 and said only if you hire us. That is very misleading. I was not told that on the phone.

Bid was 3-4 times higher than all other bids. Was more interested in selling new and was not very knowledgeable about repair work needed. I went with Stable Door

Response:

Thank you for your review. In reviewing the pictures of your door, and the safety inspection our technician performed while on sight, it appears your door was badly damaged. While other companies may be willing to offer temporary solutions our technicians are trained and certified to offer long-term solutions that are safe and reliable for years to come. While I am sorry we could not offer you a solution that you were satisfied with the damage to your door is a safety concern and not something we would encourage our technicians to apply a temporary fix on. Thank you again for your review.

I was not sure how much it was going to cost to replace both tension springs. Total cost ended up around $900. Cost for each spring was $400. If I had done a little research before or during installation I would have determined one could obtain tension springs for around $100-$200 max. So Precision Door’s markup is 50-75%. A reasonable charge to do the work would’ve been around $400-$500. My bad for not doing my research. Disappointed in Precision Door for ripping off its customers. For those reading this review beware of price gouging.

I wish I would go with someone different. Take your business to a better local companies who stand behind their words. Terrible customer service. Placed order in August 8th, showing on invoice lead time 4-6 weeks, after making payment they tell me the door will come in 12 weeks. After contacting them in beginning of November they told me end of November. They have been playing this game and now last day of November, and the door is not installed the call me and saying mid December. What a company i wish I will place zero stars for the kind of service. There are many garage door companies and they will be happy to take her business. Not like those big franchise companies they just want your money but all you get just promises.

Saw Precision's ad on TV many times. So, when my garage door malfunctioned, the first thing that came to my mind was Precision. Online scheduling was a breeze. I was able to book a slot within a few hours. The tech was very courteous. To my surprise - the tech told me that the spring could not be replaced, no company could do it. I have to convert the system to a completely different system for $1500. That didn't sound right to me. I called a different company in front of him and they said they can replace the spring for $350. I declined Precision's quote and had to pay the tech $85 for his service visit for the "upsell effort". Waited a couple more hours for the other company tech to come to replace the spring and fix my garage door like a charm in no time for a fraction of what I was quoted by Precision! Precision's approach of trying to upsell me a garage door system conversion was not honest. The tech tried hard to convince me that the expensive conversion was the only solution and sell me the product that I did not need to fix the garage door.

Response:

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We hate to hear that you didn’t feel our pricing or recommendation for a torsion conversion was appropriate on your service call. Your satisfaction is of utmost importance to us, and we apologize that we were unable to meet your expectations in this case. I got locked out out of my garage door, because when precision install my garage door, they never connected the cable to disengage the door manually they did not want to take responsibility telling me that my motor was bad and they had to break the door and install a new one and they were going to charge me $850 dollars for there sloppy installation.

Hello, I was pleased with the installer Alex that performed the instalation of 4124 Genie opener and belt drive rail and access. Was polite, professional, informative and in n out in couple hours. The problem is the price was very outrageous and gouging @ $1590 !! Afterwards my research says I made a very poor decision using your company as your pricing FAR exceeds the industry. ALL exact parts installed RETAIL everywhere for $400-$450 !! You got me for over $1100+ in LABOR !! To worsen matters, the issue was a burnt out motor (per Alex) on Genie 1200 series that has a lifetime warranty. A professional Genie installer should have known this and shared with home owner, to allow options to a repair, wether Precision replaces motors are not. I will be disputing this matter of price gouging without question to seek copensation. I ask management to look at this matter first, to hopefully discover an oversight in pricing. I welcome your responce. Farrisfamily33@icloud.com Regards, Steve Farris 727-423-4433

I am very disappointed with my experience dealing with your company. During web chat I described my issues and asked a quotation. You told me replace an Lyft Mastet 8160 etc will cost around 700 dollars. Then I set up an appointment. When your service man comes he told me everything was wrong to fix them and gave me an estimate of 3100 and 3700 dollars. This is absurd. Now I was still charged with 69.95 dollars. Actually I have coupon of half off the visitation. Now I paid another company to fix the problem at much less cost.

Response:

The gentleman showed up looked at my door and then determined that his company could not order the proper parts to fix it. This could have been determined at the outset before wasting everyone’s time. What’s strange is that after he went back to his car to determine his “course of action” he called me on the phone from my driveway. It’s almost as if he didn’t want to have to have the conversation face to face because he was trying to upsell me. I walked out to the driveway to talk to him in person.

I am leaving town for several weeks & must have this remedied prior to my departure on Tues., 11/7. I rate Johnston a 5 star, but not the end result not to mention my $99 expense. HELP! asap.

Sergio was very nice and professional and honest and I thank him for that! However, when I called to make the appointment I said that I have a D & D garage door and explained what the problem was. Your company does not have the proper replacement parts. It would have been nice if the person answering the phone knew that. I just flushed $79.95 down the toilet. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and $79.95 is a lot of $ for me. I guess your company needed that money more than I did….I feel like I have been taken advantage of and I don’t appreciate that!!!

Braxton, the technician was decent and I don’t blame the rating on him, however when he came to my home he immediately advised me that they do not work on my brand of garage door motors (linear) which was news to me. This should’ve been relayed to me as I made the appointment with the schedule assistant. She should’ve asked me the brand of motor I had if they have limitations. This huge error on their end caused me to waste my time and cost me $93 for an appointment for literally NOTHING! For them to come out and say “sorry, we don’t work on your brand” and then pivot to try to sell me $2k worth of merchandise and services was pretty messed up.

EXTREMELY disappointed with the level of service provided today, and frustrated I even had to pay for the service. The technician did not follow instructions, did not contact the correct person for cost approval and laughed at us on the phone when asked about it. Why was I expected to just pay outright when he didn't even follow directions? When I called the office, nothing was even done to correct the tech's behavior. How can he get away with being disrespectful to a new client? The lack of communication and the inability to follow direction is so unprofessional. After getting off the phone, I find out from another family member the tech's didn't even fix the issue on their own, one of my family member's had to help!!!!

Response:

Hi Emily, We are glad to have talked to you so it could be explained the work that was completed was approved in advance by a gentleman at the service location who represented himself as authorized to approve the work and costs associated before any work was completed. We are very sorry if you misunderstood the technician to be disrespectful. As the door was 10 ft high a commercial technician was called to assist. My experience this past summer into the fall was pure frustration with Precision Door. The technician's attitudes that visited my home were about the only positive in the 6 months its taken to get my door installed with the correct options without a problem. From the time I should expect onsite technicians to arrive, to the wrong door ordered, the door finally arrives with dents (after its installed and not called out), to the wrong size panel delivered with windows to the last and final piece which was the new window panel came with scratches on the windows and the housing around the windows damaged. With all of this I was given a $100 reduction off a door that required 4 different visits to have completed. I write this without a negative intent, but more to make sure in the future Precision management understand customer service is what gets you positive reviews and non-positive reviews. The bottom line was more important to the management team vs customer satisfaction with my experience. Next time do better and compensate your technicians for working late hours and your customer for frustrations.

this was a mistake/a ripoff askig for 800' dollars foragarage door repair just for a 50 dollar bpottom rubber seal

Response:

Hi William, Thank you for your feedback. We try our best to give all repair options that will work not just for today, but also for the long term. Unfortanately, I think you misunderstood our repair recommendation and why. When your door was hit, bottom bracket was ripped out of the side stile and the front surface is seperating from the back. Replacing the bottom rubber on that section will no fix your door. To be clear, you need to replace the whole bottom section, not just a piece of bottom rubber. That is our sincere recommendation. It is also the only way to ensure safe, reliable operation of your door and it is the same recommendation every respectable garage door company you call will tell you. While you may not like the message, please don't be angry with us for being honest about what actually needs to be done.

I chose precision because of the years in the business. My initial call to the company resulted in me informing the receptionist of my problem which consisted of me installing a new door but I used the old tracks the service guy came out. Had no personality whatsoever really acted as if he didn't want to be out on a Sunday. He informed me at that time that they do not touch or do any work on any garage doors that they do not install. Now I have a bad taste of my mouth because the young lady that took my call could have informed me of this decision initially and it could have saved me $64.80 thank you precision but you will never ever get any business from me or anyone I know

I typically don't leave negative reviews, positive yes, but generally stick with if you haven't got anything good to say, don't say it at all. However, this was so bad I feel it is only fair to put it out there. We had a working garage door. We were adding additional remotes and upon opening the door it became stuck and wouldn't work. My husband disconnected the door, we checked the sensors, etc. to no avail. We phoned Premier Garage Door. They have a large number of very positive reviews. The service technician who came to the home mentioned figures ranging from $200+ to over $1,000. We were told we needed a new electronic board, new springs, a new frame...if we wanted to save money we could purchase a new garage door opener ourselves and he would install it for $265. He disconnected the garage door and pretended to struggle to lift the door, stating the system was from 2010 and really needed replaced. This is the same door that we disconnected the night before and had no issue manually lifting. The sales pitch was so exaggerated and ridiculous that my husband brought the tech into the house to repeat everything to me before stating we wouldn't need their services. Needless to say, we paid the $49.99 charge to come out, called another company, 614 Garage Door, paid $100 and the door works great. In addition, the tech from 614 explained how to tell if our springs were bad, along with additional information to prevent us from being scammed in the future. Our garage door had simply kicked back too far and became stuck. The 614 tech adjusted the door and reset our garage door openers for use and we haven't had any issues since. Thanks to 614 Garage Door for repairing our door in under 30 minutes and being honest and informative. I do not recommend Premier Garage Door. Thank goodness they only got me for $49.99.

I chose Precision because of prior service. The technician then was absolutely the greatest. Service and quality was number one. I guess that set my expectation way to high because I am extremely dissatisfied with the installation of a new garage door opener. I walked out to see a completed project and saw an extension cord from the unit to my wall socket, furthermore there was visible wire taped to my ceiling from the switch to the unit and all down the walls. When I asked about it all I got was "this is how we do it". If this is the way that it is going to be done, that should have been explained before the service was provided. I feel like this job was done by a child, not a professional. Very disappointed and not even close to worth the price. This really changed my opinion of Precision Door and I wont hesitate in sharing my opinion with others.

As a competitor to the #1 original garage door installer here in Houston, I would have thought your salesperson would be professional and know his product. He (Nur) arrived with no business car, no brochure and wanted to chitchat for too long. He then asked to borrow a tape measure with a five minute story on why he didn’t have one. I told him Exactly what I wanted but he wanted to argue colors and their higher cost; not true. I knew more about his product that he. When I did get the emailed estimate, it wasnt what I asked for (you have two brands and he only priced one and the price was 55% more than you competitor. No thank you. Then he calls and tells me he was out of sorts because I knew so much about doors and most people don’t. Really? I’m about to spend thousands of dollars and I don’t research it? As an interior designer I research products all day for clients. Maybe he thought we were just a little old couple and could play the high price game. So unprofessional. I waited almost 2 months. Yesterday 08/09/23 2 Technicians came to replace the top door panel and in that process they damaged the top panel and 2nd door panel. To simply put the Garage door back on track and align my tension cord cause it came undone on one side was gunna be almost 400! That’s without any new parts lol. If I wanted new parts the price went up to 560, 730, and 1040$ and that’s just for new wheels and two new cords with rollers for the cord. lol can get a brand new door opener with installation for less than that!

BE AWARE ----Showed up as scheduled. I had a broken spring on my garage door. The tech came in and looked at the spring. Then he said I needed all new rollers on the sides of the door and that my garage door opener was also bad. What? He had not seen the opener run or even tried it. I said just fix the spring. This led to MORE parts, new cable spools, new cables , and new bearings on the spring shaft. Another 230 dollars more than the 490 dollar spring replacement I was quoted and paid for. Now I had another 230 dollar invoice for a total of 720 dollars. He asked that I open the door manually and the cable fell off. He said I did not open the door correctly! Really? He put it back on and he opened the door and the cable fell off again. So it was never the way I opened the door. Blame the customer. He said the door was fixed. But never even tried it again before he put his ladder and equipment back on his truck. I told him to show me that it was working. It wasn't working. He said he would fix it without additional charges. There seemed to be a lot of up selling. The door now works manually with the "supposed bad side rollers". All for a cost of 720 dollars. Not sure if my garage door opener will work or not. I will need to hire another company to check out garage opener. At this point I did not trust anything the tech said was bad. BE AWARE --- Lots of up selling was going on. Myself, friends and other family members who heard my story had similar stories of up selling and will no longer use this company. VERY DISAPPOINTED CUSTOMER!

Response:

Dear Mr. Pfeiffer, We regret that you were disappointed with the repair recommendations that were provided by our technician. We always consider safety to be the number one priority in every service estimate. During his visit, our technician identified the following concerns: A broken spring, frayed cables, cable drums that could not be set securely because the shaft was too worn on the end, and worn end bearings, all of which are safety concerns. He also recommended replacing the 20-year-old rollers which were worn and wobbly, which you declined. While we understand that our customers often expect our technicians to perform a simple fix, such as "Just replace the spring...", we cannot, in good conscience, simply perform that single repair when it would not ensure the safe, reliable operation of the door. Garage door components require regular maintenance, and unfortunately, repeated use of the door causes wear and tear, thus, neglecting to service the door can result in costly repairs. In this case, many of your garage door components needed attention, and our technician performed only the work that you had approved. Subsequently, we waived the cost of the replacement spring shaft, and offered to send a second technician out to verify that all work was completed to your satisfaction. We have not heard back from you since then. If we can be of assistance in any way, please feel free to contact our office.

I put one star because it was required that I did so, otherwise there wouldn't be any star on this rating. I cancelled my order of three rollup doors for our storage facility. The representative that measured the doors couldn't give me any clear options of doors to choose from. Thus, I asked him to match ones I had ordered from Precision years before. Several days later when I had to call to find out what was happening with my order and get a delivery schedule, I then found out that the doors he sold me took at least 8 weeks and are hard to get. No one from sales ever offered to show me what products they had available and times of delivery so that I could make an informed decision and purchase three doors. The lack of professionalism in customer service and obvious lack of viable product available from Precision Door made me cancel my order. Even then no one followed up questioning why I had abruptly pulled my order. It would have been good to know ahead of time that storage doors are not part of your products or service. I am truly baffled how you stay in business.

The torsion spring broke on a single, non-insulated garage door. The lowest price given was around 500.00. I went with a local man, and he changed the spring. the cables and charged me 280.00. Precision are crooks!!!!!

I can't find the words!! I am disappointed, disgusted, sickened, and many more disapproving words!!!!! I cannot believe how ripped off I feel!!! For starters I was sold a garage door opener for $774 that I found at lowes for $159. I found garage door springs at home depot for $100 a pair and they charged me $920. Was charged $350 for GDO installation. For the most part the tech was very professional, but he left my door button falling off the wall. So I got on a live chat that night and they assured me a supervisor would call me back. They didnt. I WILL NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. WELL, MAYBE AN ENEMY. So I have a $1,860 bill to pay when it should have been around maybe $700 if that. 4 words come to mind. Ripped off and highway robbery. I am going to let everyone that I can what you did to me. Going to talk to the better business bureau on MONDAY!!!

The installers chipped out 4 places on our garage floor without even asking to install new rails. They even used my husband's wood chisel to do it and ruined the chisel. They did not even say anything about it nor did they clean up the debris left behind. Precision tells us they will fix the floor "sometime" but we have been unable to get a fixed date. Garage doors were not installed properly and had to be adjusted and still make a terrible noise when we open them. So DISAPPOINTED!

I would under no circumstances use this company. I called and they came out 30 minutes early. Told my wife my garage door system required full replacement at $1,700. After I told them I would not pay that they excepted $140 after arguing with me for greater than 30 minutes. I debated calling the police to get the “technician” he really was a high pressure sales person to leave. I called Connecticut Garage Door Service who replaced my opener for $800 and said the whole system did not require replacement. I actually intend to call the better business bureau and will be leaving this same review on Yelp, yahoo, google and anywhere else that accepts reviews. I hope any of those that did use them were not ripped off and had a better experience.

Response:

We’re sorry your experience wasn’t what you hoped for. We are quite shocked by your accusation that you felt you needed to call the police to have our technician leave, especially since you waited over 2 months to write this review and never reached out to us to voice any concern. Some customers are surprised to hear that their garage door needs work, despite never providing maintenance on their doors. This customer’s door was in pretty bad shape: the door sections are rusting, the springs are weakened beyond their useful life, all 4 pulleys are wobbling, and one pulley is splitting (which at times catches the cable and jerks the door), and the lift cables are frayed. This all leads to a jerking, unsafe, and very noisy door system, which stripped the gears on the customer’s existing operator motor. The customer didn’t want to hear why his opener had failed, and only wanted it replaced. We could have sold this customer a new door opener (for about 10% less than the other company did), but we tried to explain that replacing the door opener without addressing the door issues would lead to the gears stripping in the new door opener – this customer called us to look at their door and we found that the opener’s gears had stripped. The customer didn’t like what they heard and became very agitated. It’s at this point the customer demanded our technician leave. Our technician asked the customer to pay the agreed-to service fee (the customer used our online scheduling system which specifically asks that they acknowledge and agree to pay the service fee). When they refused to pay, our technician left. Those are the documented facts from our automated technician field system. I’m sorry, but we’re having a hard time trying to see how you could think you needed to call the police. Not once did this customer call and talk to us about their concerns but decided to hide behind an anonymous review. We ask those of you reading this review to look at our thousands of 5-star reviews and ask if this sounds like the same technician or the same company.

Richard did an outstanding job reviewing the findings on my door and replacing the broken spring and installing a new weather seal. He is very professional and takes pride in his work. Precision Door has maintained our door since 2003 and did a door overhaul in 2011 which included replacement springs. The invoice was clearly marked Lifetime Warranty Parts and Labor. I was extremely disappointed when Richard explained the labor is not longer covered due to a company buyout or whatever. The lifetime warranty was one of the main reasons we decided on the door overhaul in 2011. I don’t care what the transpired with the change of ownership. Existing agreements should be honored under a grandfather clause. This is the reason I am giving a low review, even though the repair work was top notch and Richard is an outstanding technician who unfortunately had to deliver the bad news to us about no labor coverage. You can adjust my billing and I will be glad to give a 5 star review.

Response:

Mr. Hendricks, thank you speaking with our service manager Allison about the warranty of your door. We are happy she was able to help clear up any misunderstanding and questions you had. We also really appreciate you taking the time to post a follow up review and leave this 5 star review on google: George Hendricks ????? 6 days ago I posted an earlier review where I gave the company a 1 for my review. The local manager called immediately and the issue was resolve and it was all due to a misunderstanding largely on my part. I promised in the original review to change my rating to a 5 if the issue was cleared up and it was to my satisfaction. Turns out the company was standing by the original agreement from the start. I will continue to do business with this company for my future needs. Thanks to Richard for the great service work and to Allison for the prompt telephone and resolving the issue. We appreciate your business and we look forward to working with you again when needed.

If I could give 0 stars, that would be more appropriate. The technician came to my home today and I told him what the issues were. He looked over my system and said it would be $599 to replace 1 safety sensor and to replace the circuit board, which is not bad. I said absolutely not. I could buy a brand new system alot cheaper. He left after charging me $59 to look at my system. I went to Home Dept and bought the safety sensor for less than $40. I new my circuit board wasn't bad so I switched the wall consoles around and IT WORKS. I will have to buy a new wall console, it cost $28 on Amazon. So for $68 I fixed it myself.

Response:

We appreciate your feedback, have looked into the service call and refunded the $59.00 to you. Here at Precision Door we strive for complete customer satisfaction, and apologize that we were unable to meet those standards this time. Thank you

When I called for an appointment I informed the person that I spoke with that I had a Chamberlain model 900D garage door opener and that the drive belt was broken. I need a new belt installed. This opens an 8' garage door. The service tech arrived and asked what my problem was and I told him that I needed a new drive belt. He just proceeded to do an inspection of the unit and door and then said that he would get me an estimate in 5-10 minutes. Then proceed to tell me about how my unit works compared to the new units and that the motor on my unit could possibly be damaged because it broke the belt. I explained that the belt was old and showed him how dry rotted and cracked all over the belt was with many missing teeth. He seemed more interested in selling and installing a whole new system than replacing the belt. Reminded me of the service department at an auto dealership. I Just needed a new belt installed. I didn't expect or want a warranty on my whole system just for replacing the belt. I bought and installed this unit myself many years ago and if need be I will buy and install a new unit myself. You could have saved your time and my my service call charge if you had just told me that you would not just install a new belt.

I think that the service people that were sent were polite and courteous and they knew what they were doing. However, and this is the biggest complaint I have about Precision Door Service and why I will not use you again. When I experienced my initial problem in December of last year, I was told that I would have to wait for six weeks to get a service person. I could not open my garage door, so six weeks is a ridiculous thing to offer up. This time around, the first time I set the schedule up, it was for two weeks ago (it only took a week and a half this time), then was cancelled due to illness on the part of the serviceman. I had to wait another two weeks to get on your schedule and no one in their right mind would put up with these waits when you have a door that can't open. You must have more business than you can handle, so my leaving won't hurt much, but the stories I tell my considerable group of people will probably do more damage. This is a service business. When someone has a broken spring, nothing will be solved in weeks. Maybe days, but weeks, and in the first case, a month and a half...it is beyond ludicrous. Although the service was good, the company get's an "F". I also get an "F" for putting up with it. It won't happen again. No matter who I use, no matter what happens, it won't be a month and a half for an emergency. I am done with Precision. You should be ashamed and simply offer an alternative path for people who cannot get to work or to a medical emergency. Shame on you and shame on me for putting up with it. Never, ever again!

Response:

We do appreciate you reaching out and leaving a review and we are not sure why this review came through on our end on a delayed time frame so we do apologize for the delay in response but we wanted to offer a response to your claim so that when you do speak with you considerable group of people they can be sure to have the facts of your service visit. When we listened to all the recordings from the initial time you called in to make appointments, and also and follow up phone calls that were made, it seems your time frames may be off by a considerable amount so we wanted to review these time frames with you so we can see what occurred and also be on the same page. Your initial call came in 8 days after Hurricane Ian in which our buildings, our trucks suffered massive damage as well as half of our staff suffered major house damage and and or total housing loss. Unfortunately those circumstances put us at very limited staffing availability where we were booking out two weeks for an appointment. We offered you this appointment two weeks out, not six weeks out, and you refused and chose to end the call and seek garage door repair elsewhere. We did not service your door at that time. The next time we heard from you was on June 26, 2023 at 3:34 pm eastern standard time and you spoke with our call center. We offered our next available time frame which during booking was 5 days later on July 1, 2023 for an intermittent issue you wanted us to check out. You accepted this booking. Unfortunately due to a medical issue with one of our technicians we were forced to make schedule adjustments and did have to reschedule your appointment for July 7, just six days after your initial appointment when we had our next openings. For this call you stated "one of the doors seems to hang up a little and doesn't go up all the way, sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't". That service visit was completed without incident and your doors were again working as they should. Then we received this review which hopefully this response was able to clarify some time line discrepancies. We are sorry you were not completely satisfied with a longer than normal wait because of a massive hurricane and also a wait due to an illness. Sometimes situations are out of our control and both of those situations were completely out of our control and we would hope you would be able to understand. Please feel free to contact us at our main office to speak with our General Manger if there is anything else we can answer or clarify for you. We would love to get your feedback so please contact us at 941-351-2408.

Recently had springs replaced. When they did the work they modified other parts which then caused more damage and malfunction of door resulting in a second repair estimate for $2500. Reached out to management to help resolve. They returned and admitted that a part was altered but then laughed and repeated that they are a reputable company that does excellent work also refusing to put the part back in the original position. I ended up fixing the part myself and am left with stress tears in my door. Just disappointed in how it was handled.

Response:

Hey Steven, thanks for sending in the review concerning your garage door issue.  Looking into this further it appears our technicians, on both occasions, were attempting to explain that the long term need was to replace the door entirely but due to the house being for sale it was not a desired solution.  We strive for 100% customer satisfaction and would be willing to apply the initial repair in full to a new door.  We look forward to the opportunity to earn your business back in the future!

The technician replaced a broken torsion spring. Since they are replaced in pairs, he replaced the other spring as well. Everything went south from there. One spring is a different diameter than the other. The cables came off the spools. He finally gave up and charged me just for the service call. However I am still stuck with a non-functioning door and 2 different size torsion springs.

Response:

We are sorry to hear this customer is not happy with our service provided. We have refunded this customer his service call fee. As the customer noted, he was not charged for the parts used to try to repair his door. We reviewed with our Technician, and he confirmed that the customer needs to replace his garage door and that he recommend total replacement of the garage door to the customer. The customer expressed to our Technician that he is selling the house and really didn’t want to spend that money. Our Technician tried to help him out and do a band-aid repair to a garage door that he should not have tried to repair at all. We have specifically reviewed these details with our Technician.

Very dissatisfied with the service I have received. I have had ongoing issues with my door since it was installed 2 years ago. My door finally caved in and no one knows why but the company is going to charge me $5,000 to replace a door that I believe should be covered under their “lifetime warranty”. The service tech who came out for the cave in told me I should have had metal supports installed on the inside middle section of my door but this is the first time I’m being told this after having 2 or 3 previous service techs out for issues. The manager I spoke to on the phone stated, “I have never seen a door cave in like yours and I have been in the business for a long time”. The manager then proceeded to try and convince me that something had to have hit my door even though I kept telling him that was impossible because there was a car parked in my driveway. Another issue is I received a quote for $2,500 from a different company for the same door as Precision is going to install. This other company told me they purchase their doors at the same distributor as Precision. I’m not sure why there is such a huge mark up in price with Precision. The other company is even going to install the metal supports that the Precision tech said I should have had installed. Needless to say, if Precision does not replace my door at no charge, I will be going with the other company and I will make sure to file the necessary complaints with the BBB and the Ohio Attorney General against Precision.

Keith arrived on time and was a nice guy. We talked about what was wrong with my door and options to fix it. I asked how the cable on the pulley could come out of the guide hole while the hole remained intact. He said it should not have been like that. It was in the guide hole on the other side, but Keith showed me signs of wear and inferred it would be best to replace as well. During our discussion, he mentioned that Precision had been to my house for a service call in 2019. I asked if it for a full installation, and he said no. I thought nothing more about this, and went with Keiths' recommendations that would fix everything except the motor dying or me crashing into the door itself. New pulleys/cables, door rollers, and springs. It was quite expensive, but what isn't these days. It was only when I went to give Keith praise in a review, that I stumbled upon the Precision invoice from 2019. It was a technician named Michael G that did the same work then as Keith did today. New pulleys/cables and new springs, only the pulleys were done incorrectly. If he had done them right, my door would not have needed repair today . I can't help but think that since Keith brought up my previous business with Precision, he knew what Michael had done incorrectly. I think he knew I had bought new springs in 2019, but sold me new ones today for twice as much. I had peace of mind when he left. When I found out that the root cause of my problem today was due to faulty workmanship from a Precision technician in 2019, I was quite upset. When I tried to contact a supervisor, I was told a supervisor would call me back. No one called. I feel very let down. I am a trusting person, but these types of experiences leave me drained. Hopefully Keith did a good job today and I won't need garage door repair for a long time, but when I do, you can be damn sure I won't be calling Precision.

The technician was excellent. However, what you charged was not! It was a complete rip-off! I wanted 2 extension springs replaced. The technician told me that it would cost $800!!! Seriously are your extension springs made out of gold? I said absolutely not! So he called you and then the new price was $400!!! Was I supposed to feel better that you started with a bogus price of $800 and then miraculously cut the price in half?? Shame on you and Precision for taking advantage of senior citizens on fixed incomes!! Very disgraceful and you should be ashamed of yourself!
