The service tech was very helpful and within a minute found that all he had to do was reset the main door opener unit. The tough part was paying a surprising $99 for pushing the reset button. This seemed to unusually harsh for a job that took less than a minute.

If I could, I'd give a 3.5 star rating. We are very satisfied with the service the technician (Luis, in the San Jose area) finally did, and the garage door is working very well. However, we found the set-up unnecessarily frustrating. The original technician who came to our house mis-measured our garage door, so when the installer came, the door didn't fit, obviously. PD had to cut a new door and reschedule the appointment (we worked hard to clear our calendar for the original installation). When scheduling the new appointment (8 am the following Tuesday), the contact person I talked to reassured us that the technician would begin installing the door at 8 am because I had to leave for a non-reschedulable meeting by 11:30 (that was the only day both the technician and I had overlapping availability), and the installation was expected to take 3-4 hours. This ended up not working out real well; the technician came an hour and a half later, at 9:30 instead of 8 am. This made the lateness of the technician really stressful for me, and he was rushing around the entire time as well. I can only imagine what such rescheduling mishaps mean for people who work hourly jobs, where they lose income when a reschedule is necessary. I hope PrecisionDoor implements some sort of fix to ensure that the original measurements are correct (perhaps take a picture of the door; the technician took one look at our door and said, no, that's not an 8' door, it's only 7') and that when a promise is made about scheduling, it is kept. We have enjoyed our new garage door, and expect it to live up to the reputation of Precision Garage Doors we read about online. But the installation process was more stressful than necessary, and we were disappointed by that. Nobody needs any additional stress in their already hectic lives.

When I called to get an estimate on what it would cost to have the springs repaired on our garage door, the woman called me back right away with an estimate. She was very polite and nice on the phone. The repairman was right on time and very pleasant. Did the repairs in a timely matter and couldn't have asked for a nicer person. I called about 10am yesterday and my garage was fixed by 10pm. I love that a human answers the phone 24/7, that they have a dispatch number to find out the ETA and long hours available. Corey was my technician & true to the reviewers who praised him by name, he did not disappoint: friendly, thorough, timely, helpful. I'm not sure what the competition charges but I feel the price was fair, especially considering the product and service. I'll definitely call them when it's time to order a new door.

My garage had been converted to a family room by the previous owner and I was converting it back to a garage so I needed a completely new system: garage door, springs, rails, opener, remote etc. Luis, the technician on the job was very friendly and was thorough in explaining the new system. I happened to have two other contractors working on site the same day and he was great communicating/coordinating with them as they had to work around each other. He got the new door and opener installed and working within the time frame we originally discussed and left the site clean...he was a pleasure to work with. This is the second installation I have had Precision do for me I would not hesitate to recommend them strongly!

On the Friday before Memorial Day weekend our garage door coil spring unexpectedly broke with both cars locked inside stranding us at home. After several panic calls to garage door companies with no answer or not available we called Precision and they took care of us same day. Mike was very efficient in all that he did. I was surprised at the total cost of the repair. I feel that the price for the items replaced is very high and that even though the door is 35 years old. I am a believer that to put new parts with old could cause a problem over time and that is why I gave permission to replace them. Still the part price is high and I was quoted to replace the springs was $264.00 and that was for a lessor grade spring and that is the part that is my concern.

This was the third trip to my home from someone from Precision. The man was not friendly...didn't smile or say good morning. He was at my house for no more than 10 minutes and changed nothing. He said that some framework had to be tightened and he didn't do that kind of thing. He did brush a few cobwebs off the light devise. I'm not a young person and thought he was very disrespectful. Not helpful at all.

Definitely a 5 star rating. Mike showed up on time (even a little early) I was so glad about that. He went right to work and identified the problems. He had the parts with him in the truck so there was no waiting. When he ran into an additional problem he called it to my attention and asked if I wanted to move ahead with the repairs (which would have been needed in less than 6 months anyway.) I suggested that he go ahead with these new repairs even though it would more than double his original estimate. I was very glad to have this heads up about the new repairs BEFORE he replaced anything. He informed me that the parts were expensive and gave me the complete total for parts before the work was started. I was very happy to have this new repair done also at this time, because he was kind enough to consult me before he did the work. Good move Mike. This made me feel like I was part of the process. When his work was completed, Mike was careful to check out the door, and to replace everything that needed to be moved to complete the repairs. I would hire Precision door service in a heart beat, if further service is needed. I chose Precision door Service because in the yellow pages you advertised that you have 24-hour service and that you took credit cards. Your competitors in the yellow pages that I have, did not list these items. When I called about the service, the polite receptionist told me that as a senior citizen there was a %5 discount. That was the deciding factor for my choice of Precision Door.

Responsiveness the day before Thanksgiving was superb. It was raining and my door was stuck open. The technician was professional, replaced the necessary parts and repaired the door. I've had this LiftMaster 8500 only two years and this is the second time the same cable broke. This is a very expensive door and I would not recommend buying such a poor product.
