I was in hysterics when my garage door closed by mistake with my car hatchback open and jammed-Precision came within 1/2 an hour and figured out how to unjam the door and hatchback with NO damage to door and minimal damage to hatchback-I was ready for a crushed car door!!! He actually found some wires touching in my garage door housing unit that caused the door to close with only a bump of the door opener in my purse, thank God nothing major! Have used them before and will continue to use them-super friendly and sympathetic tech-Thank you again!!!

I chose Precision out of phone book, being a local number rather than 800 number. They came the day I called them. Were able to access the problem and recommended appropriate solution. Replaced door opener, installed new chain, replaced lasers, and new remotes. Our garage doors and original unit was at least 25 years old. We got at least twice the life out of them. Doors and tracts are still good. 5 stars for customer service.

The repair man showed up on time which is very good. However, before trying to find what the problem was the repair man presented me with three sales options ranging from $350 to $850 which shocked me, it's not what I asked for. once I declined for the sales pitch it took Tony less the 2 minutes To figure out what the problem was which I knew shouldn't be hard to find. The power plug to one of the two sensors was loose and needed just to be pushed back in to make a good contact. I feel that the repair cost for such an easy repair of $150 was excessive. $50 to $80 would have been more appropriate. I am happy that the garage door is working now and Tony did a good job. Robin

The service we received from William was really exceptional. I watched him closely and he was meticulous to a fault, careful and deliberate. He showed me how to make adjustments and gave advice on how best to troubleshoot issues. Honestly, I would hire him again in a second. I called on a Saturday for a service visit, was told it would be two days later on a Monday after 4PM, which was what I requested. Received a call from someone stating tech assigned to my call had service visit at another location that proved to be more difficult than expected, and was asked if OK to push my call back to next day. I said yes, only after 4PM. Tech called on Tuesday 3/7 around 2PM to say he was on his way to us. I advised him that I would not be available until 5PM and that he should have been made aware of this. He stated he was not informed of my scheduling need. I gave permission for tech to open my garage to begin inspection as I was on my way home, and arrived 10 minutes later to a garage that smelled like cigarette smoke. [Smoking is prohibited in all units of multi-unit housing in Pasadena, and signs are posted]. Asked tech if he would be inspecting actual opener, he responded there's no need, unit is 25 years old and had either broken chain sprocket or worn/stripped gears. He then informed me would be $300 for repair (not recommended for such old chain-driven unit) or over $600 for new belt drive unit with installation. Told tech was not prepared to spend so much for just a repair, let alone new opener. I asked why had there been a one-day delay for service call. His response -- "sounds like you're trying to get out of having to pay for the service call", to which I responded "I have no problem paying for the service call because I was informed there would be a fee when I initially scheduled the visit". He then stated that it didn't matter to him because he would be paid either way. Ultimately he called office and received proof that initial service call had to be rescheduled due to Precision and not me, and thus had service visit fee waived. While I appreciate the gesture of waiving the service visit fee, I did not appreciate the implication that I was attempting to avoid having to pay it. Nor did I appreciate the cigarette smoking in front of my garage -- primarily because the driveway is shared with all my neighbors, and smoke rising from the driveway would have entered into their residences. This interaction may not be representative of how Precision prefers to conduct its service visits, and it was not an ideal experience for me. Maybe if cost was not an issue, and I needed repair again, I might consider Precision. But given that there are other equally capable companies that arrive as scheduled to install a brand new belt drive opener without smoking right in front of my residence, I'd probably not choose Precision. I would share my experience with others, and allow them to make their own decision of whether or not to choose Precision. Ultimately, I did not choose Precision. That night I purchased a brand new Chamberlain belt drive opener, and had it professionally installed the next day -- for LESS than what Precision wanted to charge me just to repair my old opener.

Michael - Thanks for reviewing our recent estimate. I’m sorry that you had a negative experience with Precision. This is not how we want to conduct business. First, we were overbooked and had to reschedule your appointment. Unfortunately, this happens on occasion. We try to ensure that there are enough technicians on the schedule to handle a projected workload, however the nature of the repairs that they have to make at each job is not known in advance. When time consuming repairs force the technician to be delayed, we try to reallocate the jobs to other technicians. Sometimes this is not possible and the repair has to be rescheduled. We try to inform our customers as soon as this is known to minimize the impact on them. When a job is rescheduled, the call attendants are told to capture as much information about the customer's schedule constraints as possible and make that known to the technician. In review of the data sheet that is provided to our technician, that information wasn’t captured. We will reinforce with our call attendants the requirement to capture this information as specifically as possible. In general, absent specific direction to the contrary, our technicians attempt to provide service to their customers as early as possible because that is what most customers want. Also, I can assure you, it is our policy that the technicians are not to smoke in the customer’s home. We regret that this happened and I want to let you know that the technician has been reprimanded for the behavior. Fourth, the pricing. We don’t set our prices to be the lowest in our market. We aren’t attempting to compete with unlicensed contractors or homeowners who want to do their own work. We price to allow a profit that ensures that we will be there to stand behind our products. In addition, we provide an extended warranty for our products and that is part of the price for our services. We want to be there when our customers call with any issue and to be able to provide them with the comfort that their garage door will continue to operate well into the future. Our price may be higher than another provider for some given service, but we believe that we offer fair and competitive prices for those who want a high quality and reputable service provider. Again, please accept our apology for your experience. Our goal is to be the best garage door service provider in our market. We did not live up to this goal in your case and I can assure you we will learn from your feedback to improve our service in the future.
